Our Story

It all started in 1993 when I was interested in buying a private number plate. That plate was MJD 611. Now, all these years later, The Private Plate Company sell around 4,000 private number plates a year and I managed to pick up "1 MJD" along the way.

How did it all happen.

The private number plate I originally wanted to buy, MJD 611, was never purchased. Instead, I bought FWN 333, which was a local number plate, much cheaper. That may sound strange, but the reason was that after trawling through the Exchange and Mart I saw MJD 611 at various prices. Some were as much as £400 cheaper. This is why we are often asked "why have I seen the same car registration numbers for sale elsewhere more expensively?" The answer is that many of the other number plate dealers buy from us and add their profit. The private number plate FWN 333 was purchased, advertised and later sold to a local solicitor.

We trade with many other car registration number dealers and almost all of the motor trade which is testament to our quality of service. The same car registration numbers for sale elsewhere are more expensive because you will have to pay for their commission on the sale too.
